De la Hoya: Bivol vs. Benavidez is the fight to be made, not a trilogy of Beterbiev

Oscar de la Hoya says it will be physically hard on Dmitry Bivo and Artur Betbiev if they meet for a trilogy match between them then. He says he would like to see him, but he thinks it will be difficult on the two light heavyweights.

De la Hoya promotes the indisputable champion Bivol (24-1, 12 kos) to defeat Beterbiev, 40 years old (21-1, 20 ko) because Bivol has youth, speed and advantage of movement.

Oscar says he was worried about seeing Beterbiev carrying two knee hugs inside the ring, moving so slowly that if he was in moving sands and lacking in ability to cut the ring. However, Beterbiev was in the fight and seemed to be on the way for a circuit stroke when he continued Bivol around the ring of the third at seven laps.

Benavidez: a difficult match

From the Hoya says he would like to see Bivol fight his compulsory WBC David Benavidez, because it would make courage on his part. However, he believes that Benavidez (30-0, 24 kos) would beat Bivol because of his high punch, his ring from the ring and his ability to cut the ring.

The whole movement that Bivol used to defeat Beterbiev would not work against Benavidez. He was pursuing it and would cut it. The promoter of Bivo, Eddie Hearn, does not seem interested in Benavidez for him. Unless he changes his mind, we will probably see Bivol Fighting Betbiev or Callum Smith.

“I think Benavidez is quite interesting. I think it’s a hell of a fight. If he was ready to be courageous, if he was ready to fight Benavidez, it would solidify the career of the reproductive temple of Bivo, that’s for sure. He proved to the world that he was the best at 175. He is a hell of a fight. It would be a hell of a route to take. I would go with Benavidez, ” Said Oscar from the Hoya to Fight Hub TV When asked who wins between Dmitry Bivo and David Benavidez.

“He is smarter up there, he knows how to think and he knows how to adapt. I would promote Benavidez (on bivol). He throws more punches, he is more active and has a better game of legs than Beterbiev, “

Benavidez would be a bad style match for the 34 -year -old bivol because he does not like being hit, and there is not in the pocket long enough to do damage. We saw what a tired Beterbiev did Bivo to the 12th round of their revenge last Saturday evening on February 22 when he suddenly set up gas at full speed for the first time in the fight. He had a bloody bivo and beaten in this turn. It collapsed from the pressure of Beterbiev. If Bivol had fought Benavidez, each round would be like that.

Canelo’s chances of revenge

“There is no way to defeat Bivol. There is simply no way. The styles are fighting, and as much as I would like to see a Mexican victory inside this ring, a national hero, there is no way that he defeated Bivol, “said Hoya about Canelo Alvarez not having the capacity to avenge his loss against Dmitry Bivol.

Bivol dominated Canelo in their fight on May 7, 2022. Bivo size, the punch and the endurance of the combination were too much for Canelo. It would be worse now for the Mexican star because he clashes even faster in his fights and would not have the fuel tank to compete for more than two or three laps.

“I had bivo from the start. I thought Bivol knew how to adapt and use his boxing skills and his game game, a movement side by side, “said Hoya about Bivo’s Revenge match with Artur Beterbiev on February 22. “His combinations were ruthless. I just feel that he did the best.

Trilogy: physical toll

“His ring general was better. He knew how to cut the ring better and he knew better boxing. He deserved to win (against Beterbiev). Back to back, it’s very difficult for the body, “said Hoya when asked if Bivol should take the trilogy match with Artur. “It is very difficult in the mind.

“I don’t care about the era where you are fighting, whether the 1950s, 1960s, where they fought 30 times a year or that you are fighting today. Three back to back fights are hard for the body. It is their own (Bivol and Beterbiev). They constitute their decisions. Yeah, I would like to see a third. Why not?

“I was very concerned about Beterbiev. I was worried from the start because he wore two knees. So, looking at his leg game, he was very steep. He was very mechanical. It was very slow, a bit like moving sands. A bit like Canelo inside this very slow, very heavy ring. So it was one of my concerns.

“Bivol started to move from one side to the other, and Bettebiev could not do the distance. He followed him too slowly. This is why Bivol had the upper hand, ”said Hoya.
