Teofimo Lopez has minimized the weight champion Welter WBO Brian Norman Jr, Ko’s recent victory over Jin Sasasi on June 19. Lopez noted that Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KB) had beaten an unknown fighter and said that there was a reason for which he did not mention his name.

It is believed that Norman Jr. would jump at the opportunity to fight Teofimo Lopez, but the interest was not mutual. Teofimo was too focused on guy’s fights like Arnold Barboza Jr., Steve Claggett and Jamaine Ortiz at 140. They were safe fights for him. Faced with Norman Jr. would be a potential disaster for Lopez.
“Yeah, but who?” said Teofimo Lopez to Combination When he was told that Brian Norman Jr. looked good in his direct elimination victory against Jin Sasaki earlier this month on June 19. “Everyone may well appear until you do it at the next level. So that is why they talked about other fighters, not Teofimo. I wonder why.”
Norman Jr. too dangerous?
It is a bad fight for Teofimo because Norman Jr. has too much power and tenacity for him. We have already seen the level of Teo with his difficulties against Jamaine Ortiz, Sandor Martin, Steve Claggett and George Kambosos. Lopez hurts the pressure fighters. The guys against whom he is doing well are pure boxers, like Arnold Barboza Jr. and Josh Taylor.
“I could go to 147 or maintain and keep my belts at 140. I have the impression that at 140 years old, I became indisputable. No one beat (Josh) Taylor (Josh). He was undefeated. He gave up his belts, but he hasn’t lost the belt, and I defended myself three times now, “said Lopez.
If Teofimo goes to 147, it will not be to challenge Brian Norman Jr. for his WBO Welterweight belt. If anything, Teo would fight someone like Ryan Garcia or the battle winner Manny Pacquiao against Mario Barrios.
The only way Teofimo goes to 147 is if a big money offer is made to fight someone that it is confident to beat. After the way he withdrew negotiations for a fight against Devin Haney, he showed that it was difficult to manage.
No big fights at 140
There are no big -priced fights at 140 years old unless Turki Alashikh wants to finance a fight between Teofimo and Richardson Hitchins. It is unlikely that Teofimo will agree to fight WBA champion Gary Antuanne Russell because he is a pressure fighter with power. He’s wrong for him.
