On Saturday evening, March 1, the Boxing World Championship returns to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, while the world champion of unbeaten light weights Gervonta “tank” Davis (30-0, 28 kos) will defend her title against The superpame weight champion Wba Lamont Roach Jr (25-1-1.10 kos).
This highly anticipated PBC boxing event will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video Pay-Per-View. The event is eagerly awaited because it marks the return of Gervonta “tank” Davis. Fans of Tank Davis are excited with regard to his return to the ring, but the question that most of them are asking is, who is Lamont Roach?
Originally from Washington, DC, Lamont Roach won two national championships from Golden Gloves Juniors and posted a global amateur record of 125 victories and 15 defeats. He made his professional boxing debut in April 2014, marking a victory in unanimous on Victor Galindo.
Roach was going to display fifteen additional victories. He received a slight imperfection on his perfect record when the fight between him and Orlando Cruz was marked as a draw. After Cruz’s fight, Roach won three consecutive victories.
He was rewarded with an opportunity in November 2019 when he challenged the superpum weight champion of the time, Jamel Herring. It was a difficult night for the Gardon because he had difficulty establishing the range and the appropriate distance.
From an offensive point of view, the Southpaw Jamel Herring was able to do what he wanted, when he cut the roach with kicks all night. At the end of the 12 -round competition, Jamel Herring won the fight through a unanimous decision.
After having undergone his first professional defeat, Lamont Roach rebounded by making a sequence of four victories of four fights. He fought his way in the title when he challenged the Super-Plume weight champion WBA Hector Luis Garcia in November 2023.
In the first round of the fight, Roach established his blow and followed him with the right to the body. Throughout the fight, Roach remained aggressive while he was constantly rushing forward while looking for the opportunity to win the right hand.
With 1:24 to do in the 11th round, Roach landed a large right hand which completed Garcia’s knees. Roach struck Garcia with a wave of gunshots, but Garcia was able to survive around. In the 12th and last round, Roach connected to a left counter that sent Garcia on the canvas.
However, Hector Luis Garcia was able to get up and fight throughout the final round. At the end of the 12 -round competition, Lamont Roach was declared a winner winner. With the victory, Lamont Roach reached one of his career goals when he won his first world title.
Seven months later, Roach returned to Washington, DC, for his first defense of his superpum world title. Roach focused on making a statement when he stopped Irish Southpaw Feargal McCrory in the 8th round. Now Lamont Roach should participate in the greatest fight in his professional career.
On Saturday evening, March 1, Lamont Roach will challenge Gervonta “tank” Davis for the WBA World Lightweight title. Occasional fans are intrigued by the match on the basis of geography. For decades, Baltimore and Washington, DC, have been rival cities.
This match called on occasional because Tank Davis is from Baltimore and Lamont Roach is from Washington DC. This fight is without inspiration for some real boxing fans because it is difficult for them to visualize a path to victory for Lamont Roach.
To have a chance to defeat a boxer as talented as Tank Davis, the main tool required is a boost. JAB is essential because it could help control the distance and rhythm of combat. The Gardon will have to use side movement combinations and co-box from the outside.
Even if Roach has the perfect match plan, the biggest question is: does Roach have enough punching power to gain respect for tank? In June 2024, in his fight against Gervonta Davis, Frank Martin did all the good things, but he did not have enough power to prevent Davis from advancing constantly.
Lamont Roach has the skills and the Ring IQ, but if he does not have enough pop in his photos to have the artist reset with direct elimination Davis, then the match may not end well for Roach. Despite the fact that the chances are against him, Roach feels confident with regard to the massive upheaval.
A little over eight months ago, Lamont Roach Jr, 29, was fighting on Probox TV, and now, on March 1, he will be under the light light on Amazon Prime PPV. If Roach can be perfect in attack and defense manager during 12 laps, he may have the chance to make a career upheaval.
