Antonio Tarver predicts that Canelo will lose against Terence Crawford if Crawford resists power at 168 pounds

Commentator Antonio Tarver predicts that Canelo Alvarez will lose against Terence Crawford if he can manage his power on September 13. The only question that Tarver has for this fight is whether Crawford (41-0, 31 KB) can manage Canelo’s power at 168, because it essentially jumps three categories of weight.

Crawford must manage the power of Canelo

The only Terence’s fight at 154 against Israil Madrimov was not enough last August to call him, had happened in this weight category. It takes more than one fight, and he has not fought any of the killers of this division to show that it belongs to the average junior weight.

Tarver notes that the last time he saw a version of Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KB) which would beat Crawford, it was when he fought the Caleb factory in 2021. However, it is not even sure that the version of Canelo would batt Crawford.

“If he presents himself as he did against Scull, Berlanga and Munguia (he will lose). He did not have enough activity,” said Tarver Ko Artist Sports About Canelo who does not let his hands go quite often in these fights.

Canelo did not have to punch in his last three fights, because they were so outdated that he could do the minimum. These fighters should never have been classified at the top, given their weak curriculum vitae and their limited talents.

Fight Plant: Peak Canelo

“The last time I saw Canelo, who would beat this crawford was a plant. Now, if Canelo arrives, it’s going to be a hell of a fight. I give Crawford a very chance. So, that’s the type of talent that I think Crawford is,” said Tarver.

I don’t agree with Tarver. There is no difference between the Canelo which fought the Caleb plant and what it looked like Scull. The only difference is that Skull was not willing to exchange punches like the factory. His constant movement has limited the opportunities that Canelo had to strike, but he still took advantage of the time that Scull ceased to move to disembark big catchy shots.

“He will have to get used to this power. If he can take the power of Canelo, he will win the fight,” said Tarver about Crawford.

Ideally, Crawford should have increased to 168 to take a point against a top 15 competitor at the end of last year when it was clear that Turki Alashikh was going to fight with Canelo.

Having in the power of Canelo during the fight will be difficult for Crawford. He is not young and comes out of a year’s launch. He has been too inactive for five years for 2020, fighting only five times.
