Apple no longer sells these iPads, but these somewhat older models are still good options as long as they find them for the right discount. I recommend checking third traders (how AmazonPresent Best BuyAnd B&H). I also suggest checking the price with the latest models to ensure that you spend a reasonable amount less for the older tablet. Older models that are not mentioned here are increasingly difficult to find and may not be worth it.
iPad Pro (2022, 6. Generation): This iPad Pro -tablets (7/10, Wired Review) Use the same M2 chip located inside MacBook Air (2022)Present Mac miniand iPad Air (2024). It also has an excellent mini screen (with a 120 Hz screen update rate) Together with a dual camera system (with a lidar sensor), a camera at the front with support for the intermediate level as well as great speakers and mics. It’s compatible with the original Magic keyboard coverPresent Second generation apple pencilAnd Apple pencil with USB-C. I only recommend it if you can find the 11-inch value for $ 749 or less and the 12.9-inch for $ 900 or less.
Ipad Air (2022, 5th generation): This iPad Air has an M1 processor (which can also be found in the MacBook Air 2020), a 10.9-inch LCD screen, a USB-C connection, a touch ID in the upper input / distribution and support for 5G. It is a great, light tablet that is sufficiently powerful for most tasks. It grabs support for them Second generation apple pencilPresent Apple pencil with USB-Cand the Magic keyboard cover. I only recommend it for $ 450 or less.
iPad (2022, 10. Gen): The 10th generation iPad has an A14 bionic chip (the same iPhone 12), a modern design (also in funny colors), 10.9-inch-liquid retina (IPS LCD) display, a USB-C connection, a touch ID that is integrated into the input and distribution, a 12-megapixelfe camera, one 12 megapixel back camera and support you for 5G. It is also compatible with the First generation apple pencilPresent Apple pencil (USB-C)Present Magical keyboard folioPresent Smart folio. However, it is worth noting that the display is not fully laminated, so that there is a gap between the screen and the glass that feels less precisely the apple pencil. It is a solid choice if you are looking for a simple, affordable iPad. But since it is now three years old, I only recommend it for 260 US dollars or less.
Ipad Air (2024, M2): This iPad air (8/10, Wired recommends) is less than a year old, so it is still an excellent option. You have the choice between an 11-inch and a 13-inch liquid Retina display, but both are driven by an M2 chip (the same thing that supplies the 13-inch current with electricity MacBook Air And MacBook Pro from 2022). Other functions include a USB-C connection, a touch ID installed in the network switch and a 12-megapixel sensor in landscape orientation (with support for the intermediate level). It is also compatible with Apple pencil (USB-C)Present Apple Pencil ProPresent Magic Keyboard Case of the first generationand the Smart Folio case. I only recommend it if you can find that 11-inch version For less than 400 US dollars and The 13-inch for $ 600 or less.
The iPad accessories are endless. In the following we highlighted some of our favorites to round off their tablet experience, and you can find more in our Best iPad Accessoires Guide.
Zuugu case for 50 US dollars: For several reasons, this is our favorite folio for the iPad. It is not only durable (complete with a rigid bumper), but also a magnetized cover that remains closed, and a flap with which you can position the screen in eight different angles. The housing is magnetic and enables you to stick it safely on the fridge. It is also inexpensive, available in a number of colors and has a place for your apple pencil.
Satechi M1 Wireless Mouse for 30 US dollars: We are already big fans of Satechis Accessories at WIRED, and this mouse has not disappointed. It has a comfortable ergonomic design, an elegant aluminum finish and a smooth scrolling. It also has a large battery life with a built-in lithium-ion battery for four months and still has to charge it.
Mageey Coverbuddy Case (iPad Pro) for 65 US dollars: In this case you can connect it magnetically Apple’s magical daily housing without having to lose the case every time. It feels durable and does not give the iPad too much mass. There is also a slot for the Apple Pencil Pro or the USB-C version. The company also offers the Coverbuddy Lite for the iPad Air (m2).

Logitech Combo Touch (10th generation) for $ 160: The combo touch (8/10, Wired recommends) is equipped with a built -in keyboard, a trackpad and a kick stand, which makes it ideal to do work on your iPad. It is also removable so that you can easily remove the keyboard if you don’t need it. It is connected by Apple via the Smart Connector, which means that you never have to tinker with Bluetooth or have to bother to load it. It is also available for them iPad Pro (M4) (Although it gives a little weight to a thin tablet) and the iPad Air (m2).
CASTIFY IMPACT Screen Protector for 56 US dollars: If you are worried about damaging your iPad screen, I recommend this protector of Caseify. It is super thin, has an excellent sensitivity to touch and is mostly Fingerprint resistant (I wiped some spots here and there). It is painless to carry up the company provides a microfiber cloth, a relaxed sticker and wet and dry towels.
Paper -like charcoal -folio -case for 70 US dollars: Paper -like is known for its screen protection, but the company also offers a great case. It is designed in such a way that it feels like a sketchbook with a polyester cover that feels light and high quality. You can also support your iPad on two different levels. It does not come with an apple tin, but there is a large flap closure that prevents it from failing. I tested it with that iPad AirBut it is also available for them iPad Pro (both sizes).
Twelve South Staygo Mini USB-C Hub for $ 52: The ports are limited regardless of the iPad model. This hub from Twelve South has an 85-watt USB-C connection with PASSHROUGH load, a USB A connection, an HDMI and a headphone socket. If you have difficulty adapting it to an iPad with a housing, the supplied socket-USB-C-to-plug-USB-C cable will fix this.
Apple Magic Trackpad (USB-C) for $ 129: The Magic Trackpad 2 is a good choice for a spacious trackpad. Instead of physical buttons, it has power contact sensors where you can feel different pressure levels on the pad. With the support of different iPados gestures, you don’t have to touch the screen so often. It automatically combines with your iPad via Bluetooth and invites you to the Lightning connection.
Logitech K380 Bluetooth keyboard for 48 US dollars: If you prefer an external keyboard, it is difficult to go wrong with the Logitech K380. It is light and portable and can be connected via Bluetooth with up to three devices (with dedicated buttons to switch between them). The keyboard is powered by AAA batteries, which took us for about four months, so you don’t have to worry about carrying a charger around.
Twelve South Heverbar Duo 2.0 for $ 80: The HoverBar serves two purposes. You can use it on the side of your bed, your kitchen counter or your shelf (to look at content comfortably and freehand) or use the supplied stand at your desk. With the version of the 2nd generation, you can now remove your arm from the clamp and fasten it directly to the stand-and to change it more easily, to exchange between the two modes.
