The WBO ordered the heavy goods vehicle champion Oleksandr USYK (23-0, 14 KB) to face the temporary water holder Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KB). The two have one month (30 days) to conclude an agreement for an average of an offer of handbag with the sanction organization.
It will be up to the USYK, 38, to determine if he wants to face Parker or focus on a more lucrative match that people are interested in seeing.
Parker has rebuilt his career with recent victories on a 310 lb Martin Bole and two older heavyweights, Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.
New Zealand Parker was to challenge the champion of the IBF Daniel Dubois last month on the card of February 22 in Riyadh, but Dubois retired with a disease. It would have been a very difficult fight for Joseph to win because Dubois is at his peak and young.
Parker has a boring combat style and his personality does not seem to encourage fans to see him. If USYK faces him, many fans will pass this fight if it is sold on PPV. Without a large sub-bar, Usyk-Parker is a dull fight.
Fans would prefer to see the WBA, WBC and WBO USYK champion confront Dubois for the undisputed championship rather than Parker. It is considered the next best heavy goods vehicle in the division next to the Usyk.
Both would be an excellent fight. If Usyk wins his fight with Parker, he can still face Dubois in a revenge match if it’s a match that interests him.
Usyk comes out of consecutive victories on Tyson Fury, and he is looking for difficult to beat. He sent Fury to retirement with his recent victory over him on December 21 in their revenge last year.
Parker must take advantage of this opportunity, because it took him seven years to access this position after losing his WBO title in 2018 against Anthony Joshua.
