Bruce Logan, an English cameraman and effect artist Star Wars: a new hope And other Hollywood films at the age of 78.
In an explanation to the Hollywood reporterLogan’s wife Mariana Campos-Logan revealed that after a “short illness” he died on April 10th. My father didn’t just work on films – he made magic.”
Logan was born on May 15, 1946 and started making animated films at the age of 14, which became visual effects at the time of his 19th year. 2014He wrote to his father Campbell, who headed several classic dramas for BBC, to teach him how to use a spilitic screen, his first special effect. “My father told me that every frame of a film should be a perfect picture,” said Logan at the time. “He is responsible for all my knowledge of film history and for the introduction to the films of all great directors of the day, including Stanley Kubrick.”
Strangely, Kubrick was the first director to give Logan his first screen loan. At the age of 19 he was used as an artist for visual effects for 2001: A Space Odyssey, And worked under VFX Supervisor Doug Trumbull. Logan worked for VFX in his 50-year career Batman Forever, plane, and the above Star Wars, Where he was part of the second unit team that filmed the explosion of the Death Star. (He is even technically a part of Blade runner, than his work on the unpublished Zabriski Pointe appeared in the opening titles for Ridley Scotts Sci-Fi-Film.)
