Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn will meet at the average weight for revenge on September 20 in London. The fight will be disputed at 160 with a rehydration clause of 10 lb to give to Benn (23-1, 14 ko) a Handicap.
Turki Alashikh announced the revenge match Eubank Jr. against Benn 2 earlier during the day, and surprisingly, the reaction was extremely negative. The general feeling is that Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KB) has already beaten Benn convincingly by a unanimous decision of 12 laps in April. A revenge match is just considered to be a completely pathetic money.
No participations for Eubank-Benn
People believe that the revenge match is not necessary because there would be nothing at stake. Eubank Jr-Benn has already fought for nostalgia, playing on the theme of their famous dads who fought a long time ago. Having a sequel is silly without the two that fight other boxers.
There is no need for a revenge match because it was a clear decision of the 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112 scores. It would have been a better idea for Eubank Jr. and Benn at the same time to show the ambition and try for the titles of the world. None of the fighters did anything in their careers and does not embark on the achievements of their famous father.
Turki should have emphasized the fact that Benn challenges the weight champion Welter Wbo Brian Norman Jr. to see what it is. We already know that he does not have the skills and the size to beat Eubank JR or one of the good average weights.
Fans do not know why Turki supports Benn and Eubank Jr. by funding their revenge match. What Turki should have done was listing several fighters who both need to beat before he pays them millions for a revenge match.
Eubank Jr., 35, is obviously not good enough to beat the best average weights, and he knows better than trying to fight for a world title against the Janibek Alimkhanuly, Erislandy Lara or Carlos Adames champions. So the best he can do is fight Conor Benn, who is a joke.
