Donatella Versace will renounce her role as creative director at Fashion House Versace, after almost 30 years.
She has held the position since 1997 and took over the murder of her brother Gianni.
Versace has supervised hundreds of fashion campaigns for the Italian brand, also designing hotels and cars.
The 69 -year -old will be replaced by Dario Vitale, who is a former design director of MIU MIU, and will assume a new role of brand ambassador.
It occurs in the midst of speculation that the Prada group is interested in buying Versace from Capri Holdings Group, which paid € 2 billion (£ 1.67m) for the fashion house in 2018.
In a statement issued on ThursdayCapri Holdings said that Versace now “dedicated himself to the support of Versace’s philanthropic and charitable efforts and will continue to be a worldwide defender.”
He added that the ads were part of “a reflexive succession plan” and accredited Vitale as a “strong design leader” whose “talent and vision will be fundamental in Versace’s growth.”
The company’s statement also thanked Versace for everything he had done for the brand and for playing “an integral role in the global success of the company.”

Donatella Versace has seen some of the world’s largest stars, including Madonna, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga.
She designed the green jungle dress for Jennifer López in 2000 and Michelle Obama’s dress for her 2016 final state dinner.
