Senator Jon Ossoff, D-G., Said that the economic challenge caused by the “chaos and uncertainty” of President Donald Trump is the biggest problem facing the Status of peachstressing that the president’s uncertain economic policy is affecting how companies and residents make decisions for the future.
Ossoff, preparing to run for re -election in 2026, potentially against the popular Republican governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, who has not yet announced if he will join the race. Ossoff is the only Democrat who seeks re -election that a state that Trump won last year, which makes it a main objective for Republicans who hope to keep its majority of the Senate.
“I am more than prepared for any challenger,” said Ossoff, 38, to The Associated Press on Saturday while declining comment on any potential opponent.
Ossoff defeated Republican Senator David forgive in a second round in 2021, helping Democrats turn control of the Senate and keep most of the camera for four years during the Biden administration.

During his first four years, Ossoff tried to establish a reputation as a senator who works to advance the traditional interests of Georgia, including his farmers and military bases. He says he will try Work with Republicans Deliver for Georgia.
The senator, who recently intensified his criticism of Trump, warned on Saturday that companies and households in Georgia are fighting to plan the future due to the constant changes in the commercial and economic movements of the federal government.
“Companies cannot invest with an understanding of what the rules of an an hour or week or month will be to the next,” Ossoff told Associated Press. “Households cannot plan their annual budgets because there is much chaos and uncertainty in the implementation of federal economic policy.”
“This administration needs to clearly define its economic objectives, and needs to competently implement its plan, whatever that plan,” he continued. “The fact that the White House does not even know what its policy is, and it is with such unpredictability and chaos, staggering from one policy to the other, is to put the state’s economy at a serious economic risk.”

Ossoff also expressed concern about the authoritarian and “non -American” executive action of Trump since he returned to the White House in January, pointing out the president’s attempts to persecute his political opponents.
“We have never seen a president try to exercise the Federal Government to crush his critics and political adversaries,” said Ossoff. “That is something new in American history, and in my opinion, it is not American. And it is something that should cool to the bone, regardless of our policy, regardless of our political preferences.”
The legislator urged Republicans to remember that eventually a Democrat will be president again and “the shoe will be on the other foot.”
“These are controls and balances,” he said. “This is whether the executive branch is limited or not as designed by our Constitution, by judicious legislators who can neglect their partisanship to protect public interest.”
Ossoff explained that, although the Democrats have limited power without the control of the White House or in any of the Congress Chamber, a large part of their work at this time is to inform Georgia’s people that Trump’s policies are not the best for the State.

In addition to his criticisms of Trump, Ossoff has cited deficiencies during the Biden administration, particularly when it comes to border security. He was one of the 12 Democrats who voted for Laken Riley’s Law, who is named after a Georgia nursing student killed by Venezuelan migrant José Antonio Ibarra.
The law requires that illegal migrants accused, even without a conviction, of theft or violent crimes arrested by the Department of National Security.
“My opinion is that the American people wait and deserve safe borders,” Ossoff said. “And I think the Biden administration failed in its border policies. The American people wait and deserve that people who entered this country illegally and can represent a threat to public safety or national security to be arrested by the authorities.”

“But the American people do not support and do not expect federal police in primary schools, hospitals and churches,” he continued, referring to the Trump administration Controversial actions of immigration application. “And (the American people) do not expect our military facilities to become fields of mass prisoners for immigrants and do not want entire families to be gathered without due process. Yesterday we learned yesterday about a two -year -old American citizen, a two -year -old girl, who was deported without due process. Our immigration policy must be responsible and serious. It must also be human.”
