Hundreds of children to be evaluated by illness after the position of violation of child care

About 1,200 children are urged to undergo infectious diseases after a Melbourne child care worker was accused of a series of crimes, including children’s rape.

Joshua Dale Brown was arrested in May and faces 70 positions, and the police claimed that he abused eight children, including a five -month -old boy, between April 2022 and January 2023.

The 26 -year -old has worked in 20 child care centers since 2017, which leads local health authorities to notify parents of any child who may have been under their care, recommending that many be proven as a “precaution.”

Joshua Brown has not yet presented a plea to the charges and has been arrested. It must appear in the Melbourne magistrates in September.

The eight children who allege the police were damaged for less than two years and attended a child care center in a suburb of Melbourne.

Joshua Brown is accused of child violation and crimes of sexual aggression, as well as producing and transmitting child abuse material.

Detectives are also investigating alleged crimes by him in a child care center in Essendon, another suburb of Melbourne, “as a priority.”

At a press conference, the authorities said he had a valid work check with children and that he was employed as a child care worker when he was arrested.

Joshua Brown did not know them before the investigation, they said, and added that they believed that he acted alone and that the alleged offender only happened in Victoria.

Revealing his identity was an “unusual decision,” said Janet Stevenson from the Victoria Police, but this is a “unique” case.

“It is very important to ensure that all parents who have a child in the care of children know who he is and where he worked,” he said.

Health director Christian McGrath did not say that if the accused man had positively given sexually transmitted infections, but said that the form of the alleged crime meant that some children were asked to undergo infectious diseases.

Around 2,600 families had been contacted, with 1,200 recommended children for the tests, he said, adding that the infections to which children may have been exposed can be treated with antibiotics.

Victorian Minister Jacinta Allan said she was “sick” for the accusations.

“My heart breaks for families who live the worst nightmare of all parents,” he said.

Victoria’s families will be “angry and scared” in the case, said Allan, adding that a dedicated website for those affected has been established.
