A day before NHL’s free agency begins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Vegas Golden Knights hit gold in an exchange of box office.

The Maple Leafs gave the striker All-Star Mitch Marner to the Knights, ESPN reported Monday.

Marner was about to prove free agency for the first time, but this is expected to be a sign and commerce. It is unknown what Marner’s new agreement will be.

In return, the Leafs are obtaining the center of Nic Roy, who has just finished their sixth year in Las Vegas and eighth in the NHL after spending their first two with the Carolina hurricanes. Marner was the fourth general selection in the NHL 2015 Draft by the Maple Leafs, and worth that first round selection given its production production every season. But as Toronto continues to look for that final race of the Stanley Cup, a main taxpayer in the offensive end advances to start a new chapter in another part of the League.

The gentlemen, led by the veteran chief coach Bruce Cassidy, won the Cup during the 2022-23 season, only six years after their inaugural season as an expansion franchise. Actually they went to the Stanley Cup final during that 2017-18 campaign under Gerard Gallant’s leadership.

Vegas had 50-22 last season, but finally had the same destination as Toronto, losing in the second round. The knights fell to the eventual champion of the West Conference of Edmonton Oilers, who fell to the Florida Panthers once again in the Stanley Cup final.

Marner now joins the best talents such as Jack Eichel, Mark Ston, Tomáš Hertl and more next season.

And with Marner’s question answered, the Maple Leafs can focus their priorities in other places with free agency from midday on July 1.
