Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KB) said he should have won the fight against WBA champion Lightweight Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 kos) on Saturday evening and he would have made if the referee had made the right call to the ninth when Tank had taken a knee after hitting with a stroke at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Many fans on social networks estimated that Roach had won, and they had never seen Tank before. Inactivity, the low curriculum vitae and overlooking the roach may have cost him.
Roach says he was not counting on the Knockdown to win because he thought he had done more than like to win the decision. The judges marked a draw of 12 rounds by the scores 15-113 for the reservoir, 114-114 and 114-114. It certainly seemed that Roach had won the fight even with the referee who appealed in the ninth.
“I thought I should have won without it being considered a knockdown,” Lamont Roach told the mediaSpeaking of the call blown by the referee, who chose not to give him credit for abandoning Gervonta Davis to the ninth round when he knee.
This obviously helps that Tank Davis is the superstar of this fight, and the one who sold the Barclays Center. If the referee had appealed in the ninth, he would spoil things for a popular money manufacturer.
“If he had to wipe the sweat of his eye, he had to wipe the sweat of his eye. But the rules indicate that if you voluntarily take a knee, it is an automatic account at eight. I did not count on this. I was counting on what I was doing in there, “said Roach about Tank Davis.
“I took control, I would get more shots and I would expect more power. I thought I was doing my thing. So, I am not really frustrated on this subject, but if it was considered a KO, I would have won a majority decision.
“Have you seen me in the ring say:” Keep counting? ” I said to myself, “Why did you stop? Continue to count, ” said Roach on the way he did not understand why the referee stopped counting after Davis took a knee in the ninth. “Honestly, I don’t know (why the referee did not rule on Knockdown).”
