Floyd Schofield Sr. does not see the light competitor Abdullah Mason as interesting for his son, ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield Jr., to be taken after his victory with direct elimination of the first round against Tevin Farmer on Saturday evening.
Schofield Sr. predicts that Floyd Jr. would destroy the undefeated mason undefeated Promoire (19-0, 17 KB). He stresses that Kid, Austin has already beaten Abdullah, 21, in amateurs. When they clashed as a pros, he had to tell his son to go easily on Mason and not hit him too much.
Mason, 22, and Schofield have only one year apart, but Floyd seems much more advanced as a fighter. He looks much more polite in the ring and does not make the silly errors that we have seen from Mason.
Floyd Sr. mentions how Mason was a lot struck by Yohan Vasquez last November in a fight in which he was abandoned twice in the first round by the second featherweight. He says that Schofield Jr. “hits much harder” than Vasquez, which means that he would do worse for Mason than drop him twice.
After the way Schofield has destroyed the former Super Plume Champion IBF Tevin Farmer (33-9-1, 8 KB), the promoters of Abdullah Mason to Top Rank will not correspond to Schofield. Mason will be far from Schofield to make sure he continues to win.
“How? (Abdullah) Mason is a good fighter, but he would be destroyed by Kid (Floyd Schofield),” said Floyd Schofield Sr. Insiah Box2 When he was told Tat that a fight between ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield Jr. and Abdullah Mason became much more interesting after Floyd’s direct elimination victory in the first round against Tevin Farmer last Saturday.
With the shots with which Abdullah Mason was hit in his recent fights against Jeremia Nakathila and Yohan Vasquez, it is unlikely that he will last more than a few laps against the kid Austin ‘Schofield. Mason is open when he launches his uppercuts and his left hooks. His punch and the butter punch is his uppercut, and that is how he was abandoned twice by Vasquez.
“Look at the facts. Look when he (Mason) was struck with this other guy (Yohan Vasquez).” Kid “strikes stronger than this guy,” said Schofield Sr. “much more precise and much more agile. Mason did not stand.
Abdullah needs more seasoning
Mason needs more seasoning before fighting the Schofield, 22, because he does not seem to be almost ready to fight this kind of fighter at this stage of his career.
“We have already beaten Mason in amateurs, then they even have two fuels. He does not remove anything from Mason. He is a big fighter, but he meets the biggest boxer of all time,” said Schofield Sr.
