Lamont Roach lawyer sent a letter to the New York Sports Commission, asking them to modify the results of Lamont’s fight against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis last Saturday evening to make him the new WBA light weight champion.
The fight was marked by a print by majority of 12 laps: 115-113 for Tank, 114-114 and 114-114.
According to Dan Rafael, Roach lawyer wants the New York Commission to “declare” him the winner of Tank by a TKO of the ninth, disqualified or by decision. Davis took one knee in the ninth round after being hit.
He then got up and went to his corner to have his face tight by his coach. He said he had oily hair in his eyes. Referee Steve Willis did not count it as a knockdown, mark it like a KO or disqualify it. He could have made one of the three, because Tank had walked to his corner without a dead time.
You just knew that it came from Roach because the call without Knockdown in the ninth round against Tank cost him not only the fight, but probably millions he would get as a new WBA Lightweight champion. He would hold the WBA title, which would play in his favor in negotiations for a revenge match with Tank or a fight against one of the other belt holders, such as WBC champion Shakur Stevenson.
“Lamont Roach lawyer, Greg Smith, sent a letter to the New York Sports Commission, asking the Commission to revise the draw of the controversial majority of Roach with the light Tirelist Wba Gervonta Davis,” said Dan Rafael on his Fight Freaks Unite.
(The letter) calls on the commission to cancel the result of the fight and to declare Roach, which is the mild mud junior of the WBA, as “the real winner of the fight – either via TKO because of Mr. Davis withdrawing from the fight, or by the disqualified scores to reflect the illegal glance”.
If the referee had granted a credit to Roach for the overthrow of the ninth round, he would have won by scores 115-112, 114-113 and 114-113
