The South African ambassador ‘is no longer welcome’ in the US

The United States is expelling the South Africa Ambassador in Washington, with Secretary of State Frameal Rubio saying that “he is no longer welcome in our great country.”

In a publication about X, Rubio accused Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool of hating the United States and President Donald Trump.

He described him as a “politician who scores the race”, adding that “we have nothing to discuss with him.”

The rare movement marks the last development in increasing tensions between the two countries.

The BBC has contacted the South Africa Embassy in Washington DC to comment.

In his publication on Friday, Rubio linked an article from the Breitbart right shop that cited some of the recent Rasool comments held during an online conference on the Trump administration.

“What Donald Trump is launching is an assault on ownership, those who are in power, by mobilizing a supremacism against incumbency, at home … and abroad,” Rasool said in the event.

He added that the Maga Movement was an “very clear data response that shows large demographic changes in the United States in which it is projected that the voter voter … 48 percent white becomes 48 percent.”

In response, Rubio called Rasoo “person non grata”, referring to the Latin phrase for “unwanted person.”

Rubio’s post arrived when he left Canada from a meeting with ministers of foreigners.

The ties between the United States and South Africa have deteriorated since Trump assumed the position.

The president of the United States signed an executive order last month that freezes assistance to South Africa. The order refers to “atrocious actions” by South Africa and cites “unfair racial discrimination” against the white Afrikaners, those who descended from the Dutch settlers.

The order also refers to a new law, the Law of Expropriation, that the order states that it is addressed to Afrikaners by allowing the government to eliminate private lands.

“While South Africa continue to support bad actors on the world stage and allow violent attacks against innocent disadvantaged minority farmers, the United States will stop help and assistance to the country,” according to a statement from the White House.

The government in South Africa denies that its law is related to the breed, Associated Press reported.

An informative sheet of the White House affirms that the country “blatantly discriminates to the descendants of the ethnic minorities of the colonists’ groups.”

Although smaller diplomats are sometimes expelled, it is very unusual in the US. Uu. To occur to a higher official as a foreign ambassador, Associated Press reported, who did not observe the United States or Russia took such actions, even in the middle of the tensions during the cold war.

Rasool previously served as ambassador to the country in the United States from 2010 to 2015 before being used again for the position in 2025.

He was born and grew in Cape City. When he was nine years old, he and his family were removed by the force of an apartment that declared himself only for whites. As he grew up, he became more interested in politics and said that eviction was a significant moment in his education that guided his future.
