Tinder demands new users in California to use facial recognition technology to check their profiles. Axios reported on Monday. The new “Face Check” function aims to reduce the imitation in the dating app and ensure that people are not connected to bots or fake accounts.
During the facial test, users have to do a short video selfie if they register for the app. The scan confirms that the person is real, checks whether your face matches your profile photos and also recognize whether the same face is used over several accounts, reports Axios.
The user receives a photo verified badge in his profile when he hands over the check. Tinder said that it would then delete the selfie video, but save an encrypted face card in order to recognize double profiles in the future, the report says.
The face test is already used in Colombia and Canada.
It is worth mentioning ID check on Tinder, with which age and identity are checked based on an ID issued by the government.
