Turki Alashikh rents Devin Haney for his desire to “fight anyone”

Turki Alashikh congratulated Devin Haney on social networks after the announcement of his fight against the weight champion Welter WBO Brian Norman Jr. in November in Riyadh. Alashikh said what he loved by Haney is that he “Fight anyone.”

Evaluate the claim to “fight anyone” of Haney

Many fans disagreed with Turki on this point. What Haney showed us throughout his career is that he is selective in the opponents he was confronted with. The only talented fighter Devin fought at 135 was Vasily Lomachenko, and his victory against him was considered very controversial by fans.

If Haney was ready to “fight someone”, why did he choose to face Jose Ramirez last May? With 31 fights as a pro, Haney should have fought Gary Antuanne Russell and Alberto Puello.

Haney’s struggle against Brian Norman Jr. at 147 is one of the few where he faces someone against whom he will not be the favorite and will not have a major advantage. This fight should be a discrepancy with Haney which is blown away from water by Norman, which is at another level in terms of talents.

What will be interesting to see is whether Haney is up to the praise of Turki so that he is willing to “fight anyone”. I see guess come back to the way he was matching.

Does Haney fight the best Welters weights?

If he is really ready to fight someone, I expected him to fight against these three: 1. Shakhram Giyasov, 2. Karen Chukhadzhian and 3. Raul Curiel. These are the best fighters in the division below Norman Jr. I do not assess Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, Ryan Garcia, Mario Barrios or Manny Pacquiao as the best at 147.

What we will probably see is that Haney has professional choices after his fight with Norman Jr. He will stay far from Curiel, Giyasov and Chukhadzhian.

When Haney (32-0, 15 KB) went up to 140, he fought the faded register program for his WBC belt rather than subriel Matias or Teofimo Lopez. Why not? Devin now leaves the 140 lb division without fighting these talents:
