Ukraine has said that he is ready to accept the immediate fire of 30 days with Russia proposed by the United States, after a day of conversations between the two countries of Saudi Arabia.
The Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, said he would present the offer to Russia and that “the ball is on his court.”
The president of Ukraine, Volodomyr Zelensky, said that he now depended on the United States to convince Russia to accept the “positive” proposal.
Tuesday’s conversations in Jeddah were the first official meeting between the two countries since the extraordinary clash between Zelensky and the president of the United States, Donald Trump, at the Oval office.
In a joint statement, the United States also said that the exchange of intelligence and security assistance to Ukraine would immediately restart, which Washington had suspended after the unprecedented meeting.
“Both delegations agreed to appoint their negotiation teams and immediately begin negotiations towards lasting peace that establishes the long-term security of Ukraine,” said the US statement-Ukraine.
Rubio said at a press conference in Jeddah on Tuesday night that he expected Russia to accept the proposal.
Ukraine was “ready to stop shooting and start talking,” he said, and if Russia rejected the offer, “unfortunately we will know what the peace impediment is here.”
“Today we made an offer that the Ukrainians have accepted, which is to enter a high fire and immediate negotiations,” he said.
“We will now take this offer to the Russians and we hope they say yes to peace. The ball is now on its court,” he added.
The offer of a high 30 -day fire goes beyond Zelensky’s proposal for a partial truce in the sea and heaven.
Russia launched a large -scale invasion of the country in February 2022. Moscow currently controls about 20% of the Ukrainian territory.
Asked by a journalist if the movement meant that Trump’s relationship and Zelensky was “returning to the track,” Rubio said he hoped that it was “Paz” the one who reached back.
“This is not bad, this is not an episode of a television program,” he said.
“Today people will die in this war, died yesterday and, unfortunately, unless there is a stop the fire, they will die tomorrow.”
American and Ukrainian teams gathered after drone attacks during the night He killed at least three people in Moscow – What Russia said that Ukraine had rejected the use of diplomacy to end war.
Trump and Zelensky also agreed to end “as soon as possible” a critical mineral agreement, according to the joint statement.
Ukraine has offered to grant the United States access to its rare mineral reserves of land in exchange for security guarantees, but this was derailed by the White House row.
Rubio said that the agreement had not been the subject of Tuesday’s conversations, but had been negotiated with the bonds of the Ukrainian treasure and the United States.
The American delegation in Jeddah also included the United States National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, and the Envoy of Middle East Steve Witkoff, who will travel to Russia in the next few days according to the US partner of the BBC CBS, citing a person familiar with the planning.
Achieving a rapid end of the war in Ukraine has been a key promise for the president of the United States.
He has exerted increasing pressure to Zelensky to accept the fire, without offering the immediate security guarantees insisting by the Ukrainian president.
On Friday, Trump issued a rare threat of more sanctions against Moscow in an impulse for an agreement. Russia is already strongly sanctioned by the United States by war.
Trump said he was contemplating the movement Because “Russia is absolutely ‘hitting’ Ukraine on the battlefield at this time”.
Meanwhile, the war continued on the ground on Tuesday.
