Waymo now has more than 300 driverless vehicles that tore passengers on the traffic in San Francisco, but although they follow the traffic laws, parking is completely a different matter. According to the city labels Quoted by the Washington PostLast year, these rolling robots collected 589 quotes of a total of $ 65,065 for parking violations, which ranged from blocking traffic to street cleaning restrictions to parking in forbidden areas.
In fairness to Waymo, it is difficult to get a parking ticket in San Francisco. The city spends them like flyers. (According to the San Francisco Standard, the big number last year was last year 1.2 million.))
A Waymo spokesman informs the post that the company is working on solving the problem, but we would have a guess that will not happen if every car is driverless. Waymo cars sometimes stop in commercial charging zones to hand over the drivers when the only other option is an overloaded main street or a place far from the driver’s destination. They also “park” between travel briefly if they are too far from a Waymo facility. They are the same compromises that make human drivers constantly, and until we are not in the picture, Waymo’s vehicles will probably get the same calls and the same tickets.
