What James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Tells Us About the Future of the DC Universe

It has been years since James Gunn and Peter Safran First announced their plans For the future of the DC universe. Talk to James Gunn In Los Angeles recently IO9 asked the author director what he thinks Superhuman As a film about the DC universe says, it builds up overall. “I think all the characters are incredibly important to us,” said Gunn. “I think this is an entire universe that differs from our universe. This is no earth, and then superheroes have been pushed into it. This is a world in which we see huge impression in the background about the city, and it is not the most unusual thing they have ever seen before.”

It is a version of our planet with a long, famous story of superheroes before we even entered, it is certainly different from other iterations of the DC universe and the Marvel Cinematic universe. But Gunn continues. “I also think that there is also a lot of space for surprises,” he said. “I think one of the things I was enthusiastic about with DC is to reflect some of the big graphics novels in DC, which differ greatly from each other, have different artists and different authors. Things differ subtly from graphic novel to graphic novel.”

Gunn then pointed to the projects that DC currently has in the immediate pipeline to illustrate this. “To allow people like Craig Gillespie, to get this and do this Super girl As a space fantasy. It is completely different from this film. Or Damon Lindelof to work with Chris Mundy Lantern. This is a grounded story that is completely different. Or the grounded, messed up Peace pent Season two to start. And you know Tone Is body horror! So I wanted to make sure that we have space for very tonally different [projects]… they are all very different from each other. But I think it’s more fun. “
