Why are boxing fans to thirsty Max Kellerman at the commentary stand alongside Lampley

Nostalgic boxing fans are happy to see the former commentator of HBO Jim Lampley, who will give a comment blown by Ring magazine, brought back for the triple head on May 2. Some also hope that Max Kellerman will be brought back.

Kellerman worked for HBO for many years until they stop spreading boxing in 2018. It would be interesting to see Kellerman being brought back, because he is no longer with ESPN. He had been one of the guys who entertainment in live boxing, in particular back and forth with Lampley.

The dream team?

What I liked at Kellerman was that he had a Howard Cossell Tell him as if it was attitude, where he was not afraid to give his thoughts. Cossell was the best, but Kellerman was a good light version.

In some respects, Kellerman is preferable to Lampley because he speaks faster and can generate statistics from past fights. He is like a human computer. On the negative side, it was stiff and not as humorous as other HBO commentators, such as Roy Jones Jr. and George Foreman. These two were great.

Young fans know Kellerman only for his work on ESPN, teaming up with Stephen A. Smith, which was not a good pairing. Those who did not have the chemistry that Kellerman had when he was with the HBO crew. During the first episodes, ESPN should have noted that putting Kellerman with Stephen A. was a bad decision. You need someone with a sense of humor and interested in being aluminum foil to work. Kellerman was wrong for this kind of work. It is not theatrical enough.

Lampley was more an intellectual, so he and Kellerman were a good team when they were with HBO. Fans who remember the programs, miss the old crew they had. The combat cards were not always great in the following years, but Kellerman, Lampley, George Foreman, Roy Jones Jr. and Larry Mercant made him fun. Kellerman came when Merchant left the team, and it was a strange adjustment at the start.

May 2 programming
